More information on using the app can be found on The Pharmaceutical Journal website.
The RPS MyCPD app homepage shows a menu of categories, into which all content is divided.
Menu
Tap the three lines in the top left-hand corner to open the sidebar, from which you can access your profile as well as browse the various sections. To close the left-hand sidebar, either select an article to view, swipe right to left on your device or tap on the menu icon again (if visible on your device).
Articles
When using the sidebar to browse the article sections, the arrow to the right of the section name will take you to a list of the articles in that area. Tap on the title of the article to read it. Alternatively, you can browse articles within a specific section by tapping on the section name. The articles within that section will then display on the screen. To read an article, tap on the relevant title or image. To read more content within that section, you can scroll through the articles by swiping right to left, or by using the sidebar.
Recording learning activities
To complete a learning activity based on an article in the RPS MyCPD app, open the article and after reading it, tap the paper icon in the top right-hand corner of the app. Select the activity you wish to complete from the list. The title will automatically be populated with the headline of the article but can be edited. Enter the necessary information into the other fields and tap on ‘Save and exit’.
Planned and unplanned learning activities as well as forms to document peer discussions and reflective account activities can be selected on each article. Information and advice on how to complete each of the required records can be found here.
Some CPD articles will also have Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) modules linked to them. These ask a series of true or false questions based on the article. Please ensure you check your answers before moving on to the next question, as MCQ modules cannot be retaken.
Search
To use the search function to find relevant content by keywords, go to the left-hand sidebar and tap on the magnifying glass icon. Here, you can enter the relevant keyword and results will be displayed underneath. To view the article, tap the title.
Bookmarks and notes
Should you wish to bookmark an article and add a note to it, tap the star icon in the top right-hand corner of the article page. The title of the bookmark will automatically be populated with the article headline but can be edited. If you wish to add a note, there is an option for you to do this within the bookmark form. Tap on ‘Save and exit’ to record the bookmark and note.
My profile
After opening the menu, tapping ‘Go to my profile’ opens your profile page. The information at the top of the page can be edited by using the pencil icon. To save your information, tap on the blue save button at the bottom of the page. If you cannot see the blue save button, scroll up and it will be visible.
There will be a record of all the forms you have created on your ‘My profile’ page, as well as any bookmarks, notes and MCQ modules. Tap on the name of each type of form (e.g. ‘Planned Learning’) or activity (e.g. ‘MCQ Modules’) to see your records. These records can either be added as you read an article on the app, or as a standalone record (see below).
Standalone record
To create a standalone record, tap on ‘Add new record’ while on the ‘My profile’ page and select the type of form you wish to complete. Populate the fields in the selected form and tap on ‘Save and exit’. This new record will then appear in the list under the relevant type of form.
Emailing your revalidation records
Your revalidation records can be emailed to you at any time by tapping on the ‘Export summary’ box on your profile page. Enter your email address, tap on ‘Submit’ and your records will be sent to you.
