How will our data be migrated to the new system?
For existing FormularyComplete customers there will be a tool to assist you in moving your existing formulary to the new product. We will send you detailed instructions to guide you through the migration process and support you throughout the transition.
Do we have a choice as to when we make the switch?
Yes, as we will provide product updates for the existing FormularyComplete as normal until the end of 2017 and support the product until March 2018. However, we would advise that you plan to make the migration as early as possible to allow you the maximum time to make any adjustments to the content you feel are necessary.
How long will migration take?
The time will really depend on the amount of local information you have in your existing BNF on FormularyComplete. It will also depend on how much internal resource you can allocate to the transfer. We will offer as much support as possible, but we cannot undertake this activity for you because the reallocation of local content has to be confirmed by those familiar with it.
Will we have to update our formulary on both the current and new versions during the changeover period?
We are mindful that the BNF now has a different content structure from that on the current version of FormularyComplete. Consequently, we expect there to be a period of time when you will be using the current product while migrating your formulary to the new one. Your transition plan could, for example, include:
- Ensure your current formulary is up to date
- Inform your IT department of the forthcoming changes - they may need to help you, e.g. with IP address information or setting up a link on your intranet
- Migrate existing formulary content using the migration tool
- Communicate the availability of the new product to your users
- Start using the new product
How long will you go on supporting the current product?
The December 2017 update will provide content valid until March 2018, and we will continue to support the current product until the same time.
Can we go on using the old FC without the BNF updates?
We would always advise our users to access the most up-to-date version of the BNF content available to them to ensure they have the latest information. Regular product updates will keep the BNF content current while you migrate to the new product.
How often will updates be applied to the new version of FormularyComplete and how will the updates work?
New FormularyComplete will be automatically updated every month, ensuring your content is kept up to date and removing the need for you to install quarterly updates, as the current product requires.
